Mary Kiio is a Trainer of Trainers on various democracy and governance topics including: Conflict Sensitive Methodology, Humanitarian programming, Digital Security and Advocacy for Technology Based Violence against Women Online, Radio, and Print Skills She is also an author and co author of training manuals such as Election Capacity Building Pack for Trainers of Trainers of Media in Tanzania, Conflict Sensitive Language Booklet, Conflict Sensitive Communication- A course for civil society groups working with media in peace building , a children’s book that deals with conflict issues and a freelance journalist. Mary conducts baseline research and develops monitoring and evaluation tools that are mainly used in developing media programs.

I attended my first workshop on online safety about two years ago. The sessions were practical. I learned how to protect my passwords, how to surf online in a way that will not have my privacy invaded, how to use the spectrogram exercise to discuss difficult issues, among many other things. But the most important part was that I was able to learn how to share this information with others...
